Installation Guide
How to install your Sila eSIM
Your Sila eSIM is delivered by email within 60 seconds of purchase. You have three ways to install it — pick whichever works best for your device. We recommend installing while you're still on Wi-Fi at home, before you travel.
Method 1: One-tap install link (easiest, iPhone iOS 17.4+ and most modern Android)
1. Open the email from Sila eSIM on the device you want to use the eSIM on
2. Tap the green 'Install eSIM' button
3. Your phone will open Settings automatically and start the eSIM setup
4. Follow the on-screen prompts — name the line (SILA eSIM), choose your default line for calls and SMS (keep your home line), and choose the Sila line for data
That's it. The eSIM is installed but not yet active — it will activate automatically when you land in your destination country.
Method 2: Scan the QR code (works on all eSIM-compatible phones)
Use this if the one-tap link doesn't work, or if you're installing from a different device than the one you'll use the eSIM on (e.g. you got the email on your laptop).
On iPhone:
5. Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data)
6. Tap 'Add eSIM' or 'Add Cellular Plan'
7. Tap 'Use QR Code'
8. Point your camera at the QR code in the email
9. Follow the prompts
On Samsung Galaxy:
10. Open Settings → Connections → SIM card manager
11. Tap 'Add mobile plan' → 'Scan carrier QR code'
12. Point your camera at the QR code in the email
13. Tap Add
On Google Pixel:
14. Open Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs
15. Tap 'Download a SIM instead?'
16. Tap 'Next', then scan the QR code
Method 3: Manual entry (when QR codes don't work)
Your email also contains an SM-DP+ Address and an Activation Code. Use these if scanning doesn't work.
17. Open Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data → Add eSIM
18. Choose 'Enter details manually'
19. Copy the SM-DP+ Address from your email and paste into the first field
20. Copy the Activation Code from your email and paste into the second field
21. Confirm — your phone will download and install the eSIM
Important settings after installation
• Label the Sila line clearly (SILA eSIM) so you don't mix it up with your home line
• Set your home line as default for calls and SMS
• Set the Sila line for cellular data when traveling
• Turn ON Data Roaming for the Sila line — this is REQUIRED for the eSIM to work in your destination. It will NOT charge your home carrier — roaming charges only apply to your physical SIM
• Turn OFF cellular data on your home line while abroad to avoid accidental roaming charges
When does my eSIM activate?
Your eSIM is dormant after installation. The day counter starts the moment your eSIM first connects to a mobile network in your destination country. This means you can install at home, even days in advance, without losing any time on your plan.
Troubleshooting
'No service' after landing
• Toggle Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then off
• Check Settings → Cellular → confirm the Sila line is enabled and set for data
• Confirm Data Roaming is ON for the Sila line
• Try manually selecting a network: Settings → Cellular → Network Selection → Off → pick the strongest signal
Email didn't arrive
• Check your spam/junk folder
• Wait 2 minutes — instant delivery usually means under 60 seconds but can take up to 5
• Contact us via WhatsApp or email if it's still missing after 10 minutes
'Could not add cellular plan'
• Make sure your phone is carrier-unlocked
• Try Method 3 (manual entry) instead of QR code
• Ensure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi during installation
